My passion is in designing spaces and making objects that are practical, functional and beautiful. A minimalist in my approach, my designs are intended to be simple and functional without compromising aesthetic values. I define myself as a craft person and am passionate about working with natural materials such as timber, metal and ceramics. This approach continues through my design process, where spaces, shapes and form are often inspired from nature and natural concepts such as flow and movement.

 

Developing a Project Brief is one of the starting points where I begin every new project. For me, the brief is a process to guide and inspire my work and to ensure my work is on track to meet my clients and my own expectations. The brief also helps to create an open and strong line of communication with the client as well as  getting to know as best as possible what the client wants. This enables me to ensure that throughout the design process client expectations are being met and are satisfied upon project completion and delivery. 

 

Exploring the work of respected designers also inspires me to create and develop my own designs. It helps me to understand how designers create their work, the method they used, and why they made their decisions. Learning from great designers better informs my own practice through developing new approaches and skills that encourages my designs to grow and evolve.
