Chair 7

2016

Chair 7 is designed to be a simple geometric shape. It is multifunctional, users can sit at two different heights, it can be used as a side table, a shelving unit, serving tray, a table piece or as a step stool. At 43 cm high and 35 cm wide, Chair 7 was influenced by the "Ulmer stool" designed in 1954 by Max Bill, the first director of the Ulm School of Design HfG. The "Ulmer stool" was designed to be extremely stable and easy to transport. Students could make the stool by themselves also allowing them to use it as a carrying unit for their books and papers. Its name is derived from its shape, looking similar to the number seven.
